Dr. Manning-Gibbs is a skilled, experienced, and passionate licensed psychologist that specializes in treating stress, depression, anxiety, and anger. She earned her master's degree in clinical psychology from Columbia University's Teachers College and her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Seton Hall University. During her internship year at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ) and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, she honed her clinical skills in the areas of depressive and anxiety disorders and anger and stress management; however, her training exposed her to a variety of disorders, such as adjustment issues, Conduct Disorder, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and substance abuse.
Dr. Manning-Gibbs works primarily from an empirically-supported treatment modality, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Through this approach, she educates her clients about how their thoughts and behaviors often cause and maintain their moods. Clients are further given specific therapeutic tools that eventually lead to symptom relief. Dr. Manning-Gibbs' belief is that effective therapy not only provides real relief during treatment but also equips individuals with tools that can be utilized well after treatment has ended. Her blend of infusing scientific methodology with genuine compassion has helped numerous clients overcome mood and stress issues.
